Planning a wedding

(A not too serious look at the whole process)

Ok so you fell in love, have been together almost every day in person or on
the phone, or by text, and you have decided to take the big step of getting
married.
So now you need to plan the biggest day of your life.
Never an easy task and one that everyone needs a little bit of help with,
and usually a whole lot of money too!
My first bit of advice is to decide early on who will plan this wedding with
you, it’s YOUR wedding, so have it YOUR way!

Next you need to make a list, like a game plan, of all the things you want
at your wedding, and then work out which of these you can afford, and
remember to take out insurance against anything ( god forbidding) going
wrong, ( with the flowers, photo’s, video, cars , etc)
Then you have to decide who you will invite, and how many you can afford
inside your budget, and stick to this number.
Then his best man and your bridesmaids, it helps if you and they actually
like each other, there can be nothing worse than taking your vows with the
page boy and flower girl trying to throttle each other behind you.
Now a venue, depending on your religion, and the vicinity you live in, this
could be a huge church, or small country chapel, most will be happy to deck
out the place for your day, so the worn out pews, and damp smell will hardly
be noticed.
Then the cars, and wedding attire... to buy is nice, to rent… cheaper.
Get a dress that’s slightly on the generous size on the waist, so all the
goodies you eat that day, don’t show up as lumps and bumps under the satin
and silk.

Get the prospective parents in law to help toward the cost of this, it’s
amazingly amusing to watch the future mother laws try not to kill each other
while deciding which style will look better on you… since YOU will have the
final say anyway.
Now we get to plan the flowers... u want orchids and lilies… the florist
tells you only carnations and roses will be available on the date you gave
them. Put your foot down, and get them to order in the flowers YOU want, and
the arrangements to be done exactly as you want them, why should you be the
only one stressed?
The reception, order the cake, and plan how much you can afford a head to
feed, book the caterer, then try to have it in a place where they sell
drink… only cost’s you the champers for the toast that way!
Ok now the photo’s and or video… no matter how much Uncle Frank insists he
can do a great job at half the price, David Bailey he isn’t! Shop around
and find a reputable wedding photographer, trust me it’s worth it.
Then find someone to write you personal vows… isn’t so expensive, and really
does make everything more personal.

Now the stag and hen nights, have these at least 2-3 days before, so
everyone is sober on the day, without hangovers!
Ok now sit back, relax, and plan the honeymoon… somewhere memorable, pretty,
warm, with great sunsets… ah who cares what its like or where it is? You’re
in love, married, and happy, aren’t you?

Good Luck!!
