Poetry dedicatet to a Grandma

Happy Birthday Gram

Your hair may be white, your face lined with care
But your twinkling smile fresh as ever is there
You still bake for me cakes, the best in the land
Even though time has bent up your gentle hands

Your back is bent too from years of hard work
But never once have you complained or shirked
You like to stay busy, there’s no time to sit down
And if we try to make you we are met with a frown

But just for today, you will sit and I’ll make the tea
And ill serve you a slice of the cake made by me
Then i will run your errands and clean for you too
And not one word of complaint I’ll hear from you

Today grandma is your special day to be lazy
On this occasion you should be as fresh as a daisy
For tonight you go dancing as you did years ago
Happy birthday gram, thank you, i love you so.

Granny bye bye

When mum used to shout
I’d run straight to you
And you dried my eyes
Never let me be blue

When trouble at school
You came right away
And talked to the bullies
Until they went away

When mum was at work
You gave me my lunch
Then helped do my homework
And took out the punch

When i got married
You helped mum do all
I felt like the princess
Going to the ball

Granny now you’re gone
And tho this makes me cry
I’m so happy i had you here
Darling granny bye bye.
